…..And Then God Showed

I have discovered that it is really hard to have faith in the unseen. It's all well and good when things are going my way and I can see a way out. But when things are rocky and there is no relief in sight, that's when I find myself struggling.

Hebrews 11:1 says "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

As many of you know we have been working on a pretty large project at the office. We have been working for almost a year to create an elegant salon inside our corporate office to serve more women with cancer called Kim's Kloset. This is actually a dream come true, eight years in the making.

We had been working with a team of wonderful volunteers and they were making some good progress. Then due to unforeseen circumstances, the progress stopped.

My brother-in-law, who is an architect tagged in and contacted a contractor friend of his to see if he could help finish the project.

My brother in laws friend was happy to hop in and get the job done, and he did. Jerry organized the painters, flooring installers, and a gentleman that did all of the finish work. They were able to get Kim's Kloset about 95 percent finished.

The Monday before New Year's we received a bill in the mail. Unbeknownst to us the contractor incurred some unexpected costs that he passed on to us to the tune of $4500.00. Although we were in sticker shock, we were excited to have the work almost done and happy to pay Jerry for all that he had done to get us this far. Due to feeling the effects Covid, we were going to be forced to take money from savings to pay the bill.

This is when the story gets good.

I was working late at the office the Friday before the New Year. The phone rang and I answered it. It was Jason from the Elkhart Firefighters Union. They had run a fundraiser for us and he had a check for us and wanted to get it to us before the new year. I offered to meet him at the union hall and collect the check from him.

When I arrived he greeted me with a big smile. He said that last year they raised $2500.00 for our cause and this year they raised, are you ready? $4500.00!!!!!!

I looked at the check and started to cry. Jason hugged me and said "don't cry!!! We are happy to do this for you!!!"

I went on to explain the unexpected bill and that this was truly a blessing from God.

He hugged me again and expressed how happy they were to help!!

God shows up in so many ways. I am not sure that I take the time to realize it or stop to give Him the praise for it.

Faith is an amazing thing!!! It's trusting that things will work out, even when we can't see a way.

Roman's 8:28 says

"God works all things together for good for those who love God"

From now on I am just going to believe that God's got this.

What are you going to hand over to God to trust and believe that He's got whatever it is???
