Kim’s Kloset
About 8 years ago, Mike and I came up with a dream to create space that women with cancer could come to receive some pampering and some solace. Back then it was about the women who had gone through our program and had been re-diagnosed. Once these women received a Hello Gorgeous! makeover, they weren’t eligible for another one. However, when the re-diagnosis came, I wanted to find a way to show them some love and support them.
That is where the vision for Kim’s Kloset came in. I wanted a space that we could give these women that we had the honor of serving once, a place to come to receive a pick me up.
Kim’s Kloset will be a luxurious salon, inside our corporate office, that will give us a place to shave a woman’s head, fit and cut her wig, create a mini day of pampering or even perform a full makeover.
Last week we received a call from a woman in her early 60’s that was diagnosed with breast cancer. She thought she would do ok without a wig, until, in her words, she “looked like a dude in a hat.”
We were able to find a wig that was perfect for her that fit her personality. However, I had to fit and cut her wig in an office chair, next to my desk.
These brave women deserve a place that makes them feel like queen.
Kim’s Kloset will do just that.
