My Dear Michael…
My Dear Michael,
I remember the last Thursday that you were with us. You were in and out of lucidness. We were making arrangements to have you airlifted to Indianapolis. At one point in time, you looked at me, grabbed my hands, and said " You have to keep going, You have to keep going!" I looked you in the eyes and promised to keep going.
My thought was, at the time, that we would keep going together. That we would work hard to build that life that we had always talked about, together.
You were airlifted that Thursday and you left us that following Monday. 2 days after our son's 15th birthday. You left us.
Today marks 5 years since you left us. And I have continued to hold true to that promise. We have continued to keep going.
Seth turned 20 years old this weekend. He is an amazing young man. We have continued to work on our communication to stay connected and have a united front. The older that he gets, the more he looks like you, especially in his smile. He is bowling on his college bowling team and has taken up powerlifting. You would be so proud of him.
I have kept Hello Gorgeous! Going. As much as it was a calling for me, it is now your legacy. We are working to make our dream of Kim's Kloset a reality and have continued the mission to help women with cancer smile when they look in the mirror.
We share your favorite makeover stories and all of the things that you did to make our events successful, like dressing up as Elvis, Kiss, and even Cher. You always said you would do anything for our women, and you did.
You were an amazing man that left a lasting imprint in the heart of everyone that you met. We think about you every day. Thank you for setting us up for success so that we could keep going, even without you.
I hope that you know that you are missed and loved!!!
XOXO
Kimmer
