Do You Take Things for Granted?
Last weekend I had the opportunity to be a tourist in my home town.
The University of Notre Dame is in my backyard and yet I never seem to take advantage of the beauty that the campus has to offer.
We had family from the east coast come in for the Notre Dame vs Stanford game. We went to campus to take in all of the activities that happen in conjunction with the home game. We took in the full-blown tourist experience.
Took the touristy photos by the "Play Like A Champion Sign".
Stood on the sideline of the field and admired the massive size of the goalpost. Watched the Notre Dame Band perform on the steps of the Golden Dome. And even attended the football game and took in all of the pomp and circumstance that comes with that. It was an amazing 2 days. And you know what? This entire experience has always been 5 miles away from my house and I very rarely take advantage of it.
What is right in front of your face that you are not appreciating?
Is it your health? Is it a loving spouse? Is it a well-behaved child? Is it a happy home?
I want you to take some time this weekend to appreciate something that is right in front of your nose that you often look past.
One of the things that I feel that I take for granted is looking in the mirror and smiling back at my reflection. I see my newly colored new growth, my sparkling white teeth, and my big red lips.
Many women with cancer donβt have the luxury of smiling when they see their reflection. Many of them donβt recognize the person that is staring back at them. That is why the work of Hello Gorgeous! Is so important. We want to help women with cancer, with the tools they need, to help them smile when they look in the mirror.
And we canβt do this without you!!!
