My Friend Ann 10 Years Later
I will never forget the day in April 10 years ago. I was driving and had to pull over when my friend Anne called me and told me that she had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. I was silent for a minute hearing those words from my friend. I remember saying, "it will be ok." I assured her that we would get her through this.

About 8 years ago, Mike and I came up with a dream to create space that women with cancer could come to receive some pampering and some solace. Back then it was about the women who had gone through our program and had been re-diagnosed. Once these women received a Hello Gorgeous! makeover, they weren’t eligible for another one. However, when the re-diagnosis came, I wanted to find a way to show them some love and support them. That is where the vision for Kim’s Kloset came in.

What happens to your hair during cancer treatment?
I remember working as a stylist behind the chair and having a salon guest come in and share with me that she was just diagnosed with cancer. I remember the fear in her eyes, fear of the unknown, for so many things. I was grateful to have had the knowledge to at least share what I knew.
Michael's 5th birthday without him
On March 6th, 2022 my late husband, Michael would have 61 years old. Sitting with a friend talking over a cocktail, I was sharing with her how was I going to make it through. I really wanted to do something that would be fun, but that would honor Michael. That is when I came up with the idea of performing random acts of kindness to celebrate Michael's first heavenly birthday.

My son has taken up powerlifting. I believe it was a way for him to de-stress. I feel that it gave him the sense of control, especially in times when he didn’t feel as if he had control. He has truly embraced the sport of powerlifting and has found a family at our local gym. Seth is the definition of dedication.

I wanted to make a bigger impact on women battling cancer in our community. We are building a salon inside our office!
